  • Jasprit Bumrah has broken his silence after being ruled out of the T20 World Cup and said that he is gutted to miss out on playing in the tournament.
  • Bumrah had made his return to the India side after missing out of the Asia Cup earlier last month during the T20I series against Australia and was included in the squad for the three matches against South Africa. However, the pacer had to pull out of the series after a back injury and was sent to NCA for further assessment.

His participation in the T20 World Cup was under serious doubt but India head coach Rahul Dravid had expressed hope that we could see him back in time for the tournament.

However, on Monday BCCI announced in a statement that Bumrah was ruled out of the tournament.

“The BCCI Medical team has ruled out Team India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah from the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup squad. The decision was taken following a detailed assessment and in consultation with the specialists.”

“Bumrah, was initially ruled out from the ongoing Mastercard 3-match T20I series against South Africa due to a back injury.”

“The BCCI will be naming a replacement for Jasprit Bumrah in the squad for the marquee tournament soon,” said the BCCI in a statement.

Now, Bumrah has finally opened up on missing out of the tournament on Twitter and said that he is gutted to not be part of the squad. He said that he was thankful for the wishes, care and support he has received from his loved ones and said that he would be cheering on the team from the sidelines.

“I am gutted that I won’t be a part of the T20 World Cup this time, but thankful for the wishes, care and support I’ve received from my loved ones. As I recover, I’ll be cheering on the team through their campaign in Australia,” said Bumrah.

The BCCI will be announcing the replacement for Bumrah soon.
