Manisha Koirala says she would opt for ‘travel, gardening, trekking etc’ rather than choosing ‘mediocre projects’
Heeramandi actress Manisha Koirala defines what ‘success’ truly means to her.
Manisha Koirala, who was last seen in Shehzada alongside Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon, is all set to reunite with her Khamoshi: The Musical director Sanjay Leela Bhansali for his magnum opus Heeramandi. Manisha, who was inactive in the film circuit for quite some time followed by her battle with cancer, opened up about the major opportunities that comes her way and spoke about how she feels successful because she gets a chance to do work she truly believes in.
In her interview with PTI, Manisha Koirala revealed that for her professional success is when she can pick and choose films that she wants to do without the pressure of having to do something for money or career. “What I call success is the freedom to do what I want to do and at what time. I feel I am pretty successful today because I have the luxury to say no… The undying love for this profession keeps me going. I love the field of acting and cinema,” she said.
Talking about offers she is disinterested in, the actress asserted that she is more than happy to let go of them, and would rather explore different interests and hobbies during that time. “I would rather have a lot of free time, where I can travel, do gardening, trekking, write a book, binge watch, spend time with family… Do things that interest me rather than do mediocre projects,” she added.
Talking about her upcoming project Heeramandi, the show, which is mounted on lavish scale, stars an ensemble of actresses like Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sharmin Segal, Sanjeeda Sheikh, among others. The show is set against the backdrop of pre-Independence era and revolves around the life of three generation of courtesans. The show is expected to premiere on Netflix this year.
