Legendary actor Dilip Kumar breathed his last on July 7, 2021. The actor was admitted to PD Hinduja Hospital twice over the past few weeks. According to the reports, he was battling advanced prostate cancer that spread to other organs. Tributes have been pouring in from all quarters as friends, fans, family, the Indian film industry, celebrities, and politicians are mourning the loss of the actor who died at age 98. On Wednesday afternoon, Shah Rukh Khan arrived at Dilip Kumar’s residence to pay his last respects.
Shah Rukh Khan, who considered Kumar as a father figure, was often seen paying a visit to the residence to meet him and Saira Banu. The couple considered SRK as their son. The actor, who is busy shooting Pathan, arrived at the residence in afternoon was seen consoling grieving Saira Banu.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and his son Aditya Thackeray also paid the visit to them to honour the late actor.
Dilip Kumar will be send off with grand state honours. The funeral takes place at 5 pm today at Juhu Qabarstan.
Dilip Kumar, born Mohammed Yusuf Khan, acted in over 65 films in his legendary career. Dubbed as ‘tragedy king’ for his phenomenal performances, Kumar made his acting debut in 1944 with Jwar Bhata. Three years after, the 1947 drama Jugnu opposite Noor Jehan, was the first major hit for Kumar.
He was part of the movies like Daag (1954), Devdas (1955), Azaad (1956), Naya Daur (1957), Mughal-e-Azam (1960), Ganga Jamuna (1961), Ram Aur Shyam (1967), Dastaan (1972), Kranti (1981), and Karma (1986). He was last seen in Qila in 1998.
