World Cup 2023: Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are completely different players, says Dilip Vengsarkar
1983 World Cup winner Dilip Vengsarkar said that India skipper Rohit Sharma and superstar batter Virat Kohli are completely different players. India has reached the final of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 by defeating New Zealand by 70 runs in the semi-final in Mumbai.
Speaking exclusively to India Today, Vengsarkar said Kohli has been simply outstanding in the 2023 ODI World Cup. Kohli is the leading run-scorer in the tournament, having amassed 711 runs in 10 matches at an average of 90.68.
“When you see the skill level, the mental toughness of the players, there are only a few players who have gone on to achieve what he has in international cricket. Virat has been simply outstanding, the way he’s played so far,” said Vengsarkar.

He went on to say that Rohit is a tremendously talented player but has a bit of a laid-back attitude. Rohit has lead India to 10 straight wins in the ongoing 2023 World Cup.
“Rohit Sharma had a bit of a laid-back attitude, unlike Virat because Virat was there in the face. He was aggressive and positive. Rohit is a tremendously talented player, there’s no question about his talent. His skill level and mental toughness is superb. His execution of shots is absolutely amazing,” Vengsarkar added.
The former India batter said Rohit and Virat are completely different players, insisting that Rohit can extend his career by five years if he works on his fitness. Rohit became the only player to score 500-lus runs in successive ODI World Cups.
“Rohit and Virat are completely different players. Virat is extremely fit, Rohit is talented, both are talented. If Rohit works hard on his fitness, he can play for five more years,” said Vengsarkar.
India will face Australia in the final of the 2023 World Cup as they aim to win the coveted trophy for the third time and the second time on home soil.
