People grew up seeing me on screen, now their children are too: Swetha
Swetha Changappa has completed two decades in television, having been part of comedy shows, serials as well as reality shows. Her career is a testimony to staying relevant in changing times. For instance, apart from her presence on screen, she has recently been part of the design team of the multi-starrer film 45, featuring Shivarajkumar, Raj B Shetty, Upendra, and Kaustubha Mani. “We have been working on costumes for a year now. I am sure I will be able to impress with my new endeavour,” she says.
However, TV continues to be a focus, says Swetha. “When I started, I never thought I would make a career out of it. My journey began with the TV show Sumathi. People tell me they grew up watching me on screen, and now their children are watching me,” she beams. Soon, Swetha will host kids show Chota Champion again.
“I have a little one at home too, Jiyaan. I know a thing or two about handling kids. I am looking forward to it,” she says.
Admitting that in her time, TV was less popular than films, she adds, “If someone wanted to act, they didn’t know how to go about it. But things have changed now with technology. Anyone can become famous overnight by using social media as a tool. But, they also disappear after a show or two,” she ends.
