To celebrate the global reach of the Indian Media & Entertainment Industry, a session was organized at the India pavilion, Expo 2020 Dubai, where Anurag Singh Thakur, Minister of Information and Broadcasting and actor Ranveer Singh, spoke about India as the content hub of the continent. When asked about what he thinks of India reaching out to global audiences, the minister said, “India has a lot to offer to the world, from the cosmic world to the cinema, from yoga to Ayurveda, new India, the startups and IT hubs.”
“The AVGC sector of India has the potential to grow as one of the largest industries in the world. India is a land of storytelling and the film industry is the soft power of India.”
He added talking about the media and entertainment sector. When asked about visiting India Pavilion, Ranveer said, “Whatever little I saw, I think it is done beautifully. The effort that’s put behind everything that I saw so far, is amazing…Lot of the credit has to go to the team who put this up.”
When asked about what has been his most challenging character, Ranveer said, “Every new role comes with a unique set of challenges, but working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali has been challenging as he pushes me beyond my boundaries and the actual growth happens when you push yourself beyond limits. While it is very challenging to work with him, you come out as a much more evolved artist.”
On asking the minister if he gets time to watch films and which is his favourite film of Ranveer, Mr. Thakur said, “I watch films while traveling. I saw 83 and loved the film…Ranveer did a brilliant job.”
“I have watched Bajirao Mastani a few times and every time I watch it, I find it very entertaining,” he added.
On the work front, Ranveer Singh will next star in Jayeshbhai Jordaar, Cirkus, Anniyan remake, and Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani.
