PosterGuy: Former Manchester United player Cristiano Ronaldo was unveiled by Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr on Tuesday, 3 January. Ronaldo who is joining the club reportedly for a mammoth fee of $200 million per year spoke in the press conference but hilariously confused Saudi Arabia with South Africa.
“For me, it’s not the end of my career to come to South Africa (Arabia). This is why I want to change. To be honest, I don’t care what people say. I took my decision. I am really, really happy to be here,” Ronaldo said at the press conference.
Fans in social media could not help but spot the same and were left in splits.
“Saudi Arabia really just paid Cristiano Ronaldo $200m to say he’s excited to play in ‘South Africa’,” wrote one Twitter user on 3rd evening.
Ronaldo arrives to Saudi Arabia after an unceremonious exit from Manchester United. The player also did not have a good time at the FIFA World Cup, and exited in the quarter-final stages of the tournament after getting defeated by Morocco.
However, that has not shunned his spirits. In the press conference, Ronaldo called himself an unique player and said that he was in Saudi Arabia to break some record.
“I’m a unique player. It’s good to come here, I broke all the records there (in Europe) and I want to break a few records here,” Ronaldo said.
“I’m coming here to win, to play, to enjoy, to be part of the success of the country and culture of the country,” he added.
“It’s not the end of my career to come to Saudi Arabia. This is why I change and, to be honest, I’m really not worried about what people say,” Ronaldo said.
