Mohammed Siraj commented on India’s thrilling win over West Indies on Sunday, saying that emotions were running high during the chase.

India pacer Mohammed Siraj has commented on the team’s thrilling win over West Indies in the second ODI on Sunday to clinch the series.
The visitors won the match by two wickets with two balls to spare as they chased down a mammoth score of 312. Earlier in the first innings, West Indies batters enjoyed a great time on the track with Shai Hope slamming a fine hundred.
The wicketkeeper-batter scored 115 runs off 135 balls with his innings consisting of eight boundaries and three sixes. Hope received support from skipper Nicholas Pooran, who played a valuable knock of 74 runs. There were also good cameos from Kyle Mayers and Shamarh Brooks as well. In the end, West Indies ended up scoring 311 runs in their allotted 50 overs.
In response, the Indian innings was off to a slow start and had lost Shubman Gill, Shikhar Dhawana and Suryakumar before the 20th over.
However, Shreyas Iyer and Sanju Samson combined together for a strong partnership that changed the match in India’s favour. Iyer ended up scoring 63 while Samson racked up 54 runs.
After the departure of the duo, Axar Patel took up the finisher’s role and got India home with a blistering knock of 64 runs from 35 balls.
The Indian pacer said that the emotions were running high at that moment. Siraj went on to say that the whole team had self-belief during that tough chase and he himself had the confidence to hit a six. However, he decided to go with the more sensible choice and let Patel finish off the game.
“Oh my god, don’t ask brother. Emotions were running high, Axar Patel was pumped up, we all had the self-belief, even I had the belief of hitting a six but me taking a single was more sensible,” said Siraj.
The final ODI of the series will happen on Wednesday, 27th July. After that both teams will switch their attention to the five-match T20I series which will start on Friday.
