Ajay Devgn is all set for the release of his directorial Runway 34. The film also stars Rakul Preet Singh and Amitabh Bachchan. While Ajay and Rakul essay the role of pilots in the film based on a true incident, Amitabh will be seen as a lawyer. The film reunites Ajay and Amitabh after a really long time. They have shared screens for films like Khakhee, Aag, and Major Sahab. Ahead of the release of the film on April 29, Ajay Devgn spoke to Bollywood Hungama about working with Amitabh Bachchan.
Talking about working with Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay said, “I have known him for a very long time now. So there’s a great rapport. When we locked the script, one thing was for sure we can cast whatever we can, including me, but there’s no replacement for this character. And the kind of conflict the script has, him-me, her-him. I think we needed somebody so powerful, strong, with a great reputation. So it was always him. I mean, I said this earlier also that if he wouldn’t have agreed, I wouldn’t know how to make this film.”
“We all have grown up watching him. People think he is very dedicated and loves his job. But whatever people think about him is less till you don’t meet him, till you don’t see him work. Even if he has a slight issue or major discomfort, he will show it off set but never on set. On set, he is like, he is 20 years old. He’s just perfect. He is into his character and into the film. You will never see him getting ready, or arriving late. He will reach before time. He will not move from the set. If you ask him to go and rest, he will not go. He will be on his seat and will be in character and will not leave his place. I don’t think that kind of dedication is there in any of us,” Ajay added.
Inspired by true incidents, Runway 34 revolves around Captain Vikrant Khanna played by Ajay Devgn, a flying prodigy, whose flight takes a mysterious course after take-off from an international destination. With the thrill of the unknown in the sky, this film showcases Ajay locking horns with the legend of Indian cinema, Amitabh Bachchan; whom he has directed for the first time. The film also features Rakul Preet Singh, as a co-pilot, in a never-seen-before role.
The film will be released in theatres on April 29.
