Temples To Visit In Govardhan: Govardhan Hill, which is located 23 kilometres west of Mathura, is connected with Lord Krishna. According to legend, in order to defeat the great deity Indra’s pride, Lord Krishna lifted this mountain like a canopy on his fingertip for seven days and nights, sparing the inhabitants of Braj from the deluge of rain. On the top of the hill, Seth Valabhacharya built a shrine in 1520 to honour this occasion. The town is well-known for its 21-kilometre Parikrama, which circles the sacred Govardhan hill and bestows pilgrims with eternal benefits. Let us check out the list of 5 temples everyone should visit in this sacred place.
5 Temples To Visit In Govardhan
1. Manasi Ganga – The sacred Manasi Ganga was formerly a very extensive lake, but it has shrunk significantly over time. On this lake, Radharani and Lord Krishna are said to go boating. The starting and finishing points of the revered Govardhan Parikrama are symbolised by this tank. It is connected to Lord Krishna. It is seen as the most sacred of the kunds. Here, devotees believe that immersing themselves in the holy Mansi Ganga Kunda will wash away all of their sins.
2. Daan-Ghati Mandir – The Daan-Ghati Mandir is linked to a mischievous tale about Lord Krishna and Radha Rani. It is believed that Lord Krishna used to collect tolls at this spot from the gopis by means of mocking and cherished arguments.
3. Kusum Sarovar – A twenty-five-minute walk from Radha Kunda is the magnificent sandstone landmark, Kusuma Sarovar. The word kusum means “flower,” and the gopis would gather flowers for Krishna in this instance. The greatest place in Braj Dham to go swimming is Kusum Sarovar. Jawahir Singh, the lord of Bharatpur, constructed the ghats at this kunda and the structures over it circa 1764 as a token of gratitude for his father, Raja Suraj Mall. Three tombs have outstanding artwork on their roofs: the main tomb of Raja Suraj Mall and two smaller tombs belonging to the queens Kishori and Hansiya. This place also houses the Giriraj Temple.
4. Radha Kund – The sacred spot Radha Kund is known to be the bathing spot of Lord Krishna. According to a popular legend, when Lord Krishna defeated a powerful asura (demon) that appeared as a bull, Radha Rani requested that Krishna atone for his transgressions by bathing in several sacred rivers. After dismissing it with a laugh, Krishna kicked the earth, causing all the river goddesses to materialise in front of them and cover the earth with water. To appease Radha Rani, Lord Krishna took a bath in this kund. After bathing in Radha Kunda, Lord Krishna declared that anyone who bathes there will be bestowed with the deep affection (Prem-Bhakti) that Radharani has for him.
5. Mukharvind of Shreenathji, Jatipur – Every day, a large number of devotees and visitors come to this shrine to honour and pray. They offer the diety milk and flowers. This Shreenathji Mukharvind at Jatipura is regarded as the beginning of their Govardhan Parikrama. Positive energy and vitality are always bursting at the seams in this setting.
