AUS vs ENG, Ashes 3rd Test Day 3: Australia thrashed England by an innings and 14 runs in the MCG Test to retain the Ashes.

3rd Ashes Test, Day 3: Pacer Scott Boland took six wickets in the second innings as Australia crushed England by an innings and 14 runs in the third Test to retain the Ashes at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Tuesday. With the thumping win in Melbourne, Australia took an unbeatable 3-0 lead in the five-match series. Resuming Day 3 of the MCG Test at 31/4, England’s nightmare with the bat continued as they kept losing wickets. Boland, who made his Test debut for Australia, blew the English away after Mitchell Starc provided the opening by sending Ben Stokes (11) back to the hut early on Day 2. Boland then ripped through England’s middle and lower order as the visitors were bundled out for a humiliating 68 to hand Australia the Ashes urn. “We have to make sure when we get our opportunities to get ahead we take them,” said Joe Root, adding that England should have scored 250-plus in their first innings rather than slump to 185 all out.
