Former India cricketers Ishant Sharma and Harbhajan Singh extended their wishes on the International Day of Yoga, which is celebrated on June 21.

The International Day of Yoga came into being in 2015 following its inception at the United Nations General Assembly in 2014. The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, in his 2014 UN address, suggested the date of June 21. ‘Yoga for Humanity’ is the theme for the International Day of Yoga 2022.

Ishant urged his fans to create a balance in life on the International Day of Yoga.

“Here’s to flexibility, strength and growth! This #YogaDay, let’s take a pledge to create a balance in life. Now is the time to take a step to rejuvenate ourselves,” Ishant tweeted.

Harbhajan said, “Yoga can be very peaceful and relaxing. On the occasion of #InternationalDayofYoga, I urge everyone to practise Yoga to keep themselves physically fit and mentally strong.”

Former India captain Mithali Raj took to Twitter and said: “A happy soul resides in a healthy body and yoga helps us achieve both. A very happy International Yoga Day to all of you.”

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Jay Shah said: “Wishing everyone on the occasion of 7th #YogaDay. As the theme of this year is ‘Yoga For Wellness’, and the focus is on practicing Yoga for physical and mental well-being let us all take a pledge to practice it.”

India women’s hockey captain Rani Rampal shared her message in Hindi, saying: “For healthy and happy life, synchronise your body, mind and spirit. On this International Day of Yoga, start a new life with yoga.”
