Rohit Sharma is set to lead Team India in the upcoming one-day international series against Sri Lanka. Wicket-keeping batter Rishabh Pant has been rested while pacer Umran Malik has been called up.

Opener Shikhar Dhawan has been axed from the ODI squad for the Sri Lanka series, being replaced by Shubman Gill. Meanwhile, Pant has been rested from both the ODI and T20I series. However, the hard-hitting Suryakumar Yadav returns to the fray after being rested for India’s ODI series against Bangladesh.

Umran Malik and Arshdeep Singh have been called up in place of Deepak Chahar and Shardul Thakur in the fast-bowling department. Kuldeep Yadav also returns, who, alongside Yuzvendra Chahal, Washington Sundar and Axar Patel, will be the spin-bowling options for Team India.

Interestingly, Hardik Pandya has been named the vice-captain for the ODI series, despite the presence of KL Rahul in the squad, indicating a switch of tactics by the team management when it comes to leadership.

India is set to face Sri Lanka in a three-match T20I series, followed by a three-game ODI series, starting January 3, 2023. The ODI series will start on January 10 and will see Guwahati host the first match, followed by the second match in Kolkata, with the final game of the series being played at Thiruvananthapuram.
