Karan Johar who is known for launching the children of his friends from the industry is all set to launch Sanjay Kapoor and Maheep Kapoor’s daughter Shanaya Kapoor. The ace filmmaker announced the collaboration with Shanaya earlier this year in March and planned to take it on floors by July. However, the film got delayed after the second wave of Covid-19 hit the nations and all the shoots came to a halt again.
Well now, as the Covid-19 situation has got better in the country and normalcy has returned in the industry, shoots are going on in a full-fledged mood. Now, according to a report by a web portal, Karan Johar has passed on the directorial baton for Shanaya Kapoor’s launch film to his trusted filmmaker Shashank Khaitan. The upcoming project is a young franchise film and will also feature Guilty actor Gurfateh Singh Pirzada and will also remark the debut of newbie Lakshya Lalwani. Lakshya was earlier supposed to make his debut with Karan Johar’s now-deferred Dostana 2 co-starring Janhvi Kapoor.
This new film is a light-hearted, urban triangle love story and will see Shanaya pairing up with Pirzada and Lakshya Lalwani. The shoot for the upcoming project will kick off in the month of December in Mumbai. The film has apparently gone through a major change in the last few months. If sources are to be believed, the rom-com was earlier supposed to be directed by Paras Chakravarti while Khaitan was attached just as a producer. Now, Khaitan has taken over the project and will soon dive into its preparation.
