Karan Johar’s upcoming directorial was first announced for February 10, 2023, release date. A few months later, it was announced that the film will now release on April 28, 2023.
However, recently, Mani Ratnam announced that the second part of his Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starrer blockbuster magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan: Part One titled Ponniyin Selvan: Part Two will hit the screens on April 28, 2023 .
Moreover, Salman Khan’s Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan was announced for April 21, 2023, release.
Which meant, the romantic comedy-drama Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani was sandwiched between a superstar’s masala entertainer and a maverick filmmaker’s pan-India epic.
It seems, to avoid facing off with the two big films, Karan Johar decided to delay his film yet again.
Announcing the new release date, Karan Johar wrote on his Instagram account, “They say ‘sabr ka phal meetha hota hai’, so to increase the mithaas of this incredibly special story – we’re coming with a whole lot of love! Rocky aur Rani ke parivaar ho rahe hai taiyyaar, aur ab dekhiye yeh anokhi kahani of pyaar! #RockyAurRaniKiPremKahani in cinemas 28th July, 2023.”

However, fans were convinced that the delay in release date is out of ‘fear’ of Salman Khan & Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
One user wrote, “Iski date hi change hote rehti hai,, kuch tym baad ott ki date aayegi”.
