PosterGuy: Team India wished Rishabh Pant a speedy recovery after the star wicketkeeper-batter was involved in a near-fatal car crash. Head coach Rahul Dravid, T20I captain Hardik Pandya and other members of the team prayed for Pant’s health.

Pant’s car met with an accident at around 5:30 AM on his way to Roorkee. The incident took place in Mohammedpur Jat, near Roorkee. He claimed that he dozed off while driving, causing the car to collide with the divider and catch fire.

In a video shared by BCCI, Dravid said: “Hey Rishabh, hope you are doing well. Hope you get well soon. Over the last one year, I have had the privilege of seeing you play some of the greatest innings played in Indian Test cricket history. Whenever we have been in difficult situations, I knew you have got the character and the ability to get yourself out of very difficult situations. This is one such challenge and I know you will bounce back like you have done so many times last year. Look forward to having you back soon buddy.”

The India wicketkeeper-batter was taken to the Roorkee hospital before being transferred to a Dehradun hospital. After the collision, Pant’s Mercedes caught fire. Pant, who was driving alone, had to break the windscreen of the car to get out.

The DDCA Director Shyam Sharma on January 2 told India Today that Pant is “recovering well” after the car crash. “Rishabh Pant has been shifted into a private room looking at the risk of infection,” the DDCA director said. “Doctors shifted Pant in a private ward yesterday evening so that there is no chance of infection.
